Ticket Group Capacities
Limit multiple ticket types with a shared capacity to better control ticket availability and manage event allocations.
Ticket Group Capacities let you set a shared ticket limit across multiple ticket types. When the group limit is reached, all ticket types in that group stop selling — even if individual ticket types still have remaining capacity.
This is useful when you want several ticket types to draw from the same overall allocation.
Common examples:
-
A combined limit of 200 tickets shared across General Admission and VIP
-
Early Bird and Standard tickets drawing from one overall event allocation
-
Capping VIP tickets within a larger total event capacity
How to create a Ticket Group
-
Log in and open your event.
-
Go to the Edit Event page and scroll to the Tickets section.
-
Click the Add Ticket Group button.
-
On the Add Ticket Group page:

How it works — example
You are running an event with the following setup:
| SETTING | VALUE |
|---|---|
| Event Capacity | 1000 |
| Ticket Group: "VIP LIMITS" | Max 15 tickets total |
| VIP Access (Single) ticket capacity | 1000 |
| Group of 4 - VIP ticket capacity | 1000 |
Result:
-
Buyers can purchase any combination of Group of 4 - VIP tickets and VIP Access tickets
-
Purchases cannot exceed the maximum of 15 tickets set for this ticket group
-
The group capacity limit is not visible to buyers on the event page

When should I use Ticket Group Capacities?
| SCENARIO | HOW TO SET IT UP |
|---|---|
| Share inventory across General Admission and VIP | Create one group containing both ticket types. Set the group max to your total venue capacity. |
| Cap Early Bird tickets within an overall event limit | Create one group containing Early Bird and Standard tickets. Set individual Early Bird capacity and a combined group max. |
| Limit premium allocations within a larger event | Create a group for all ticket types. Set a lower individual capacity on VIP/premium types to cap them independently. |
| Manage bundled group ticket offers within an overall capacity | Include Group Ticket types in a group to count bundle purchases against the shared pool. |
Important Notes
-
Group capacity is not visible to buyers. The shared limit is an organiser-side control only — buyers see individual ticket availability as normal.
-
When the group limit is reached, all ticket types in the group stop selling — even if individual ticket types still show remaining capacity.
-
Individual ticket capacities still apply independently. A ticket type stops selling when either its own capacity or the group capacity is reached — whichever comes first.
-
Group capacity and Event Capacity work together. Tickets stop selling when either the group limit or the overall event capacity is reached. Set your group max to be equal to or less than your overall event capacity.
-
Min Per Order and Max Per Order settings on individual tickets are not affected by the group capacity — these limits still apply per transaction as configured.
Most Common Questions:
Tickets stopped selling before I expected.
-
Check whether a Ticket Group has been configured. If the group capacity has been reached, all tickets in that group will stop selling even if individual ticket capacities aren't exhausted. Review the group max count and adjust if needed.
I don't see the Add Ticket Group button.
-
The Add Ticket Group button appears in the Tickets section of the Edit Event page. Make sure you have at least one ticket type created before looking for this button. If it's still not visible, contact our support team.
