Can I buy tickets with an international card or in a foreign currency?
Sticky Tickets charges in Australian dollars — here's what to know about currency conversion and international card payments.
Yes — Sticky Tickets accepts international credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. All ticket prices on the platform are displayed and charged in Australian dollars (AUD). If you are paying from a non-AUD card, your bank will convert the amount at the exchange rate applicable on the day of your transaction.
What you need to know before paying
- All prices are in AUD. The price you see on the event page is in Australian dollars. Your bank converts this to your local currency at the time of payment.
- The exchange rate is set by your bank. Sticky Tickets has no control over the conversion rate applied. It is determined by your card issuer on the day of the transaction.
- International transaction fees may apply. Most banks charge a foreign transaction fee (typically 1–3%) when paying a merchant in a foreign currency. This is a bank fee. If it is not charged by Sticky Tickets and will not appear in your Sticky Tickets order total.
- Your bank statement may show a different amount. The amount charged to your card will reflect the AUD price converted to your local currency, plus any fees applied by your bank. This is expected and is not an error.
- Card statement descriptor. Your bank statement will show the charge as Sticky Tickets Australia Pty Ltd.
If your international card is declined
International cards are sometimes declined for reasons unrelated to your available balance — for example, your bank may have restrictions on overseas transactions. Try the following:
- Check that international or online payments are enabled on your card — you may need to turn this on in your banking app or call your bank.
- Complete any 3D Secure verification your bank sends to your phone.
- Try a different card if available.
For persistent declines, contact your bank directly — they can advise on any restrictions and often resolve the issue quickly. See also: My payment was declined.
