Set Whether Ticket Prices Include the Booking Fee
Choose the default for your event — absorb the booking fee or pass it on to ticket purchasers
By default, the booking fee is added on top of your ticket price at checkout, and ticket purchasers see it as a separate line item. You can change this so the booking fee is built into your ticket price instead, giving purchasers one all-inclusive price.
This setting is event-wide — it's applied to and followed by all ticket types created for this event.
How to change this setting
- Go to your event settings and scroll to the Ticketing section.
- Select Edit to open the ticketing options.
- Tick the Booking Fee checkbox to include the booking fee in your ticket price by default, or leave it unticked to keep it as a separate charge added at checkout.
- Select Save Changes.
What this changes in your ticket type list
Your ticket type list shows either a Cost or Net column, depending on this setting:
- Cost column – shown when the booking fee is included in the price. This is the total amount the purchaser pays, with your net amount worked out from it.
Example if fee included in price: If you want to receive $100.00 per VIP ticket and the booking fee brings the purchaser's total to $104.50, you'd enter your ticket price to reflect that $104.50 cost. This is the amount that the purchaser will see.
- Net column – shown when you're passing the fee on. This is the amount you receive, with the booking fee added on top to calculate the purchaser's total.

Example if fee passed on: If you set your VIP ticket price (net) at $100.00, the booking fee is added on top at checkout, and the purchaser pays more than $100.00.
IMPORTANT: Changing this setting doesn't automatically recalculate your existing ticket prices. After you save, check and update the price for each ticket type so it reflects what you actually want to charge or receive.
Most common scenario and questions
Does this apply to all my ticket types automatically?
-
Yes — this setting applies to all ticket types created for this event.
If I change this setting, does it affect tickets already sold?
-
No — this only affects how new ticket prices are calculated going forward. It won't change what previous purchasers were charged.
What's the difference between Cost and Net?
-
Cost is the total the ticket purchaser pays, including the booking fee. Net is the amount you receive after the booking fee is deducted.
Why didn't my ticket price change after I toggled this setting?
-
This setting controls how the price is calculated, but it doesn't automatically update prices already entered. You'll need to update each ticket type's price manually to reflect the new setting.
