My payment was declined
What to do if your card payment is declined when purchasing tickets on Sticky Tickets.
Your order was not placed. If your payment was declined, no tickets have been purchased, and no charge has been made to your card. Your tickets may still be reserved — you have up to 30 minutes from when you added them to complete your purchase.
Things to check first
Before contacting your bank or our support team, try the following:
- Check your card details. Re-enter your card number, expiry date, and CVV carefully. Small typos are the most common cause of a declined payment.
- Check that online payments are enabled. Some banks require you to enable online or international transactions. Log in to your banking app or call your bank to confirm this is turned on.
- Check your available balance or credit limit. Ensure you have sufficient funds or credit to cover the total, including any booking fees.
- Complete 3D Secure verification if prompted. Your bank may send a one-time code to your phone or ask you to approve the payment in your banking app. Complete this step before the session times out.
- Try a different card. If the above steps don't resolve the issue, try paying with a different Visa, Mastercard, or American Express card.
🕒 Reservation timer: Your tickets are held for 30 minutes. If your reservation expires while troubleshooting, return to the event page and start the purchase again. If the event shows as sold out, contact the organiser to check availability.
MOST COMMON QUESTIONS
If the problem continues
-
If you have checked the above and your payment is still being declined, contact your bank directly — they can tell you the specific reason for the decline and resolve any restrictions on your account. Sticky Tickets is unable to override a decline issued by your bank.
-
If you believe the issue is on our end, please contact our support team with your order details, and we'll assist where possible.
I can see a charge on my account even though my payment was declined
-
A declined payment should not result in a charge. What you may be seeing is a temporary authorisation hold placed by your bank during the transaction attempt — this is not a completed charge and will be released automatically, usually within a few business days. If the amount does not clear after a few days, contact your bank directly with the transaction details.
Will I be charged if my payment is declined?
-
No. A declined payment means no charge has been made and no order has been placed. You may see a temporary authorisation hold from your bank which will clear automatically within a few days.
Can Sticky Tickets process my payment if my bank keeps declining it?
-
No — Sticky Tickets cannot override a decline issued by your bank. Contact your bank directly to resolve any restrictions on your card or account, then return to the event page to try again.
My tickets expired from my cart while I was troubleshooting. What do I do?
-
Return to the event page and add the tickets to your cart again. If the event shows as sold out, contact the organiser — they may be able to assist with availability.
