How to Set Up Recurring Calendar Reminders for Your Event
Configure the Add to Calendar frequency so ticket purchasers see your recurring event displayed correctly on their calendar.
If you run a recurring event — such as a weekly class, fortnightly seminar, or monthly workshop — you can set the Add to Calendar feature to display your event as a repeating entry on ticket purchasers' calendars. When a ticket purchaser clicks Add to Calendar on your event page, the event will be added as a recurring entry at the frequency you set.
Not sure if you need this? If you run a single event on one date, you don't need to configure this setting — leave Advanced Settings as-is. This feature is specifically for events that repeat on a regular schedule.
Different from Sessions: The Sessions feature lets ticket purchasers choose a specific date at the time of purchase. The Add to Calendar frequency setting controls how the event appears in their calendar after purchase — as a recurring entry rather than a single date. These are two separate features.
How to set the Calendar Frequency
- Go to My Events and open the event you want to configure.
- Click the Edit Event tab.
- Scroll to the Date section and click the Edit link.
- Inside the Date settings, click the Advanced Settings link.

- The Frequency dropdown will appear. Select how often your event recurs:
- Daily — the event repeats every day.
- Weekly — the event repeats on specific days each week. Tick the day or days it runs.
- Monthly — the event repeats each month
- Check the Preview line — it shows exactly how the recurrence will appear on your event page before you save.

- Click the Save Changes button when you're happy with the preview.
What Ticket Purchasers will see
When a ticket purchaser clicks Add to Calendar on your event page, their calendar app will create a recurring entry based on the frequency you've set. This works with Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, and Yahoo Calendar.
Most Common Scenarios and Questions
I can't find the Advanced Settings link in the Date section.
-
Make sure you've clicked the Edit link in the Date section first — the Advanced Settings link appears inside the expanded Date settings, not on the main event editor page.
The preview line doesn't match my intended schedule.
-
Check that you've selected the correct frequency and ticked the right days (for weekly events). The preview updates as you make changes — use it to confirm the output before saving.
Ticket purchasers say the event isn't showing as recurring on their calendar.
-
This may depend on the calendar app the ticket purchaser uses. Not all calendar apps handle recurring entries from external sources identically. Encourage ticket purchasers to check their calendar app's import settings if the recurrence doesn't display as expected.
Does this work with all calendar apps?
-
The frequency setting applies to Apple Calendar (iCal), Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Office 365, and Yahoo Calendar. The recurring entry behaviour may vary slightly depending on the app.
Is this the same as the Sessions feature?
-
No. Sessions let ticket purchasers choose a specific date when purchasing. The Add to Calendar frequency setting controls how the event appears in the ticket purchaser's calendar after purchase — as a recurring entry. Use Sessions when you want date-specific ticket purchasing; use this frequency setting when you want the calendar entry to repeat.
What happens if I change the frequency after ticket purchasers have already saved the event?
-
The change will not automatically update existing calendar entries that ticket purchasers have already saved. Only new Add to Calendar actions after the change will reflect the updated frequency.
Can I set an end date for the recurring entries?
-
Yes — each frequency setting includes an End Date field where you can specify when the recurrence should stop. Set this to the date of your final session so the calendar entry doesn't repeat beyond your event schedule.
